FACT SHEET FOR THE CENTER FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN CRISIS

MISSION STATEMENT
Care, advocate and provide a safe environment for survivors of domestic and sexual assault.
CWCIC’S  VISION
We believe that everybody deserves to live in an environment in which they feel safe and secure without fearing for their lives, and we work towards providing that security and right.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CRIMS STATISTICS
According to the Utah Domestic and Sexual Violence Report of 2010, domestic violence and sexual assault are two of the most violent crimes in Utah, yet the victims rarely discuss thus topic. Not mentioning these issues in our conversations encourages domestic and sexual abusers to persist with their damaging behavior. The number of domestic and sexual violence cases continues to increase.
The 2007 Rape in Utah Survey found that nearly 1 in 3 women report experiencing some type of sexual assault during their lifetimes, but less than 12 percent of these crimes are reported to the police

USA

UTAH

Approximately 302,100 women are forcibly raped each year in the United States

Approximately 1 in 8 women will be raped sometime during their lifetimes

Every 2 minutes, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted

Rape is the only category of violent crime whose rate exceeds the national average

1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime (14.8% completed rape; 2.8% attempted rape).

The 2007 Rape in Utah Survey found that nearly 1 in 3 women report experiencing some type of sexual assault during their lifetimes, but less than 12 percent of these crimes are reported to the police
